Dallas, Chicago and Louisville Show Double Digit Employment Gains in July, Reports New CareerCast.com/JobSerf Employment Index
CARLSBAD, CA/RICHARDSON, TX (July 31, 2012) – Managerial recruitment activity fell by 1.2 points in July, following a rebound in June, according to the new CareerCast.com/JobSerf Employment Index. The Index, which measures managerial hiring activity online, has stabilized over recent months and has been trending above 100 points since February 2012.
“We are hopeful that hiring activity will increase in the fall as companies continue to reduce their uncertainty about the economy,” says Tony Lee, publisher, CareerCast.com.
While the job market remains tough and hiring is still not back to its pre-recession levels, there was minimal loss of hiring activity in July, with downturns in only three cities, Boston (-5%), Hartford (-3%) and Minneapolis (-2%).
“Although Boston saw a 5% loss in employment activity in July, hiring was at a record high in June (+16%) and July could be a stabilization following last month's rapid growth,” says Jay Martin, COO, JobSerf.
The three cities with an increase in hiring this month were Dallas (+14%), Chicago (+14%), and Louisville (+10%). The top hiring companies in the Dallas area are mainly centered in the healthcare industry: Baylor Health Care System, Capital One, Texas Health Resources and HCA Healthcare. In Chicago, residents can look to McDonald's, Sears, Accenture, and University of Chicago for job opportunities. The strengthening of Louisville's economy and a surge in real estate investment are key factors in the improvement of that region's job market.
