Riverside, Denver and Dallas Show Double Digit Employment Gains in May,

New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Hartford Among Cities with Losses, Says New CareerCast.com/JobSerf Employment Index

CARLSBAD, CA/RICHARDSON, TX (May 29, 2012) – Managerial recruitment activity dropped slightly by 3.8 points in May, following a sharp decrease in April, according to the new CareerCast.com/JobSerf Employment Index. The May 2012 Index, which measures managerial hiring activity online, lost some ground over the past two months as it struggles to recover to its all-time high of 116.9 reached in March 2012.

“This month’s losses in managerial recruitment were minor but we are still ahead of where we were three years ago,” says Tony Lee, publisher, CareerCast.com.

Several cities had increased hiring this month: Riverside (+16%), Denver (+11%), and Dallas (+10%) saw double digit increases. Other cities showing sizable gains were Tampa (+9%), Boston (+8%), Phoenix (+8%), and Memphis (+8%).

“We are pleased to see respectable gains in so many cities in May” says Jay Martin, COO, JobSerf. “Dallas and Houston both saw increases in managerial hiring this month, which dovetails with the state’s dropping unemployment rate.”
